Crowns and Bridges – Smile Restoration

Lost or damaged teeth can have an impact on your oral health and your self-confidence. Although there are many options for replacing your teeth, to achieve the most natural appearance, crowns and bridges achieve the best results.

To start the process of restoring the appearance and function of your teeth, we’ll first assess your teeth by taking images. From this initial consultation, we’ll be able to give you a glimpse of what your smile will look like if you get a crown or bridge with us.

Both crowns and bridges not only look fantastic, they’ll also restore rigidity to your bite.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are caps that are placed onto decaying or damaged teeth. They may also be used to cap dental implants which are titanium posts used to replace the root structure of your missing tooth. When placed onto an implant, crowns replace the entirety of your missing tooth.

To ensure your crown doesn’t stand out, we’ll perfectly match its colour and shape to your natural teeth. Generally, the best results can be achieved using acrylic or ceramic crowns while providing you with the durability needed to eat with confidence.

Your custom-made crown will be perfectly crafted using impressions from your mouth. This will ensure it’s the perfect fit in every way.

Once we’ve placed your crown, you can expect it to last for many years to come providing you visit us for a regular check-up and practice good oral care.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges are a popular option for replacing one or more teeth. Just like crowns, they’re natural-looking and durable. With the proper care, they could last a lifetime.

To place a dental bridge, we’ll usually fit two crowns to the teeth on either side of a gap. These crowns will be placed onto teeth that have been filed down or onto dental implants. The crowns will be used to flank a prosthetic tooth called a pontic in position. In some cases, more than one pontic may be used.

Faultless treatment and care as always. I initially felt nervous about attending for an appointment during this present difficult time. There was no need to worry as the whole experience was excellent. I am confident the staff are protected and every patient is safe in their expert hands. I will not hesitate to attend my next appointment.

I am writing this review as I know how hard it is to pick a dentist and I based my choice on the reviews I read.
Seen by Dr Alfonso for a new patient full examination. The team were really friendly. Dr Alfonso himself was fantastic, open and transparent communication, explained everything well. Lays out options before you but applies no pressure and is honest about whether treatment is needed or not. Am glad I have joined.

Just completed my treatment and after checks following replacement of my lower teeth over the last half year. Alfonso, his team and all the staff have just been fantastic. Everything went so smoothly and my biggest fear pain was hardly noticed. I thank you all for the superb service you provided for me. I would recommend you wholeheartedly.

Crowns and Bridges FAQs

  • Before your treatment, we’ll give you an anaesthetic so that the entire experience will be pain-free.

  • To achieve the most natural appearance, we’ll usually use a durable composite or porcelain that gives the illusion of real tooth enamel while being hard wearing.

  • Yes. Our aim as dentists is to find ways to preserve or protect your natural teeth as much as possible. Extractions are usually a last resort because losing a tooth can open you up to an increased risk of decay and orthodontic problems in the future.

  • Dr Alfonso Rao and his team aim to place crowns and bridges that could last a lifetime. If needed, they can be replaced. In the event that you have had a bridge or crown place elsewhere that may have failed, we can replace this.
