Invisalign and Invisible Braces

Invisible Braces

If orthodontic treatment makes you think of permanent wires and brackets in unsightly steel, it’s time to think again.

Define Dental Clinic offers a range of discreet, effective teeth straightening designed with aesthetics in mind.

Our range includes fixed lingual braces, the revolutionary Inman Aligner and, of course, Invisalign removable clear aligners.

At Define Dental Clinic, you can be sure of being in the best possible hands throughout your orthodontic journey. Our principal dentist Dr Alfonso Rao is one of the UK’s few Invisalign Platinum Elite providers – placing him among the nation’s best Invisalign dentists.

If you would like to correct misaligned teeth, close gaps and achieve smile perfection without drawing attention to your treatment, discreet orthodontics from Dr Rao and the Define Dental Clinic team could be the solution you’ve been searching for.

Join the Invisalign Revolution

For decades, orthodontic treatment has relied on fixed braces, complete with conspicuous steel brackets and wires.

Although fixed braces are effective, poor aesthetics and comfort make them a last resort for adults who want discreet treatment in a package to suit their busy lifestyles.

So it’s no wonder Invisalign clear aligners have been hailed as a revolution in orthodontics. Instead of using brackets and wires, Invisalign uses a series of custom-made clear aligners which are virtually invisible to the naked eye.

It means that they’re impossible to spot at work – even up close.

And that’s not the only reason why Invisalign has transformed treatment. Patients love being able to remove the aligners for easy cleaning or whenever their busy lifestyles dictate.

Invisalign at Define

Our Invisalign Elite team produces fantastic results. We’ll begin with a consultation so you can tell us exactly what you hope to achieve.

We’ll use the latest 3D imaging and smile preview technology to create an accurate digital model of your teeth and show you how your new smile will look after treatment.

We’ll send the digital model to Invisalign’s laboratory so they can begin producing you’ll clear aligners. You’ll receive the first aligner a week or two after your first assessment.

Every four to six weeks, our team will provide you with a replacement aligner. Each of these gently pushes and pulls your teeth a little closer to their ideal position.

It usually takes our team from 12 to 18 months to create perfect Invisalign smiles.

Faultless treatment and care as always. I initially felt nervous about attending for an appointment during this present difficult time. There was no need to worry as the whole experience was excellent. I am confident the staff are protected and every patient is safe in their expert hands. I will not hesitate to attend my next appointment.

Invisalign FAQs

  • Invisalign clear aligners are designed to be worn for at least 22 hours every day. You should generally remove them for eating and brushing only.

  • You’ll see the position of your teeth improve with a few weeks of wearing Invisalign. The whole process takes from 12-18 months, depending on the complexity of your case.

  • Invisalign® braces are virtually invisible due to the fact they are made of clear plastic, and can be easily removed from the mouth – and so people will likely only know you use them if you tell them!

Your aligners will be trimmed to your exact gum-line, allowing for comfortable, undetectable wear for the recommended 22 hours a day.

  • Some patients report minor discomfort in the first few days of treatment but this usually subsides within a day or two. Afterwards, most patients quickly forget they are wearing aligners.

  • The cost of your Invisalign treatment depends on how advanced your orthodontic issues are and how many aligners you will need to wear throughout treatment. We’ll give you a full breakdown of the costs at your initial consultation when we can also tell you about monthly payment plans and finance to help spread the cost.

  • Invisalign® braces are custom-made using unique SmartTrack material, designed to fit snugly to the teeth and to move them gradually over a period of time, and because of their personalisable nature, can be used to treat a host of dental concerns. This includes spacing issues, such as gapped teeth or overcrowding, as well as bite correction in the case of deep bites, open bites, underbites and crossbites. Invisalign® can even be used to treat singular teeth, even rotating where needed.

  • Invisalign is available in a multitude of removable brace ranges to accommodate different physical requirements and ages.

Invisalign Teen is an option for younger patients, ensuring that older children are not held back with their food choices or in the pursuit of particular hobbies, such as playing contact sports, or wind instruments.

Invisalign Lite is available as a short-term realignment solution for the swift and mild correction of concerns with the front teeth.

  • Treatment duration varies depending on what we are trying to correct. It can be as little as a few months or several years.

The length of time that your braces will require for results will depend on your own personal orthodontic situation and requirements, which will be established during the creation of your tailored treatment plan with one of our Invisalign experts.

In many cases Invisalign® braces take far less than traditional fixed braces. Sometimes they might take longer than traditional fixed braces due to the nature of their application; the compliance of the patient is crucial to the success of the system!

Fixed braces are controlled by the orthodontist, Invisalign is controlled by the patient. The full Invisalign® and Invisalign® Teen ranges can be used anywhere from six to 24 months on average for optimum results, while the Invisalign® Lite range for mild realignment to front teeth can take five to eight months.

  • While requiring gum health maintenance similar to traditional braces (see a hygienist every three months), Invisalign® braces are very straightforward to clean as they can be removed for brushing and flossing.

You’ll need far fewer visits to the clinic than with fixed braces, as the aligners do all the work and there are no wires to change. On average, we’ll need to see you every eight to 12 weeks to check on your progress but this varies from person to person.

Our team will provide comprehensive advice for how to keep your Invisalign® braces clean during your consultation, and will also be available throughout your teeth alignment journey.
